Nestled between the majestic Taurus Mountains and the warm twinkling sapphire of the Mediterranean, is the resort location of Alanya, part of the district of Antalya. The historic old town still has its quaint little houses, mosques and a sweet little harbour. Down by the waterfront a melange of cafes, restaurants, bars and shops graciously welcomes the visitor. Many of the roads in the old town are closed to vehicles, which makes it all the more pleasant to stroll through. The newer areas of the town, on the outskirts bustle with their busy bars and late night disco clubs, where one can drink and dance into the early hours of the morning.

In summer, the temperature ranges between eighteen and thirty-one degrees Celsius, which is great for those who enjoy a spot of tanning or outdoor adventures. Winter weather isn’t shoddy either, with lowest temperatures around seven degrees Celsius up to around seventeen, even in December. Visitors from colder climes will find Alanya’s clement climate pleasant at all times of the year.

With warm sandy beaches and pleasant temperatures, tourists from across Europe find themselves returning to Alanya regularly. However, it’s not just the temperature that’s appealing. Amongst its many attractions are the citadel resting high above Alanya itself, with its picturesque views, ancient mosques, towers and even a Byzantine church building, an opportunity to truly step back in time. With regular ferries to Northern Cyprus, its closeness to Antalya and its great historical sites and wide range of beach sports (volleyball particularly) and watersports, Alanya seems to have something for everyone. A simple one or two bedroom apartment, of about ninety square metres, within five minutes of the beach, would have a market value of around fifty thousand pounds. A two to three bedroom luxury apartment, of about one hundred to a hundred and fifty square metres, might have a market value of between seventy-five and a hundred and ten thousand euro (between fifty-five and seventy five thousand pounds).

Just outside of the town of Alanya itself, still with beautiful views of the ocean, one can expect to find villas, with private pool, three bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, of around three hundred square meters for between one hundred and eighty and three hundred and twenty thousand euro, which is in the region of one hundred and twenty two thousand to over two hundred and twenty thousand.
