The lively town and striking natural beauty of Kemer and its surrounding districts are just two reasons to visit this seaside resort in Turkey’s Antalya province. The busy bars and restaurants are magnificently nestled within the landscape of sparkling sea, arresting mountains and remarkable pine forest splendour. The nearest airport is Antalya which is seventy kilometres (just over forty miles) away which does have weekly flights from major European destinations, although flying into Istanbul or Ankara and taking a transport transfer down to the coast.

With its worldwide reputation for being a destination of great quality, Kemer, with its fine selections of bars, clubs and restaurants, is a favourite with the European holidaymaker. Visitors from Germany, Britain and The Netherlands are the most common tourists in Kemer, although it has recently found more success with guests from Russia and the United States of America. The area is so geared towards tourists that in the summer, the Turkish lira and the euro are equally accepted in most places. It also means that all of the shops in the area are happy to supply the demand for all the type of goods that tourists from North Western Europe consume.

Kemer is famous for its glorious blue flag beaches and the temperature draw the sun seekers all year round. The daytime temperature in December is between eighteen and twenty degrees Celsius (evening temperatures drop to between six to eleven degrees Celsius). However, in the height of summer in July, the temperatures soar to hit between the mid to late thirties (Celsius). The summer precipitation is usually less than 1 days rain, a great relief for the Northern Europeans!

Tourists and locals are never disappointed by the throbbing varied nightlife of Kemer, yet those who seek intellectual, as well as alcoholic stimulation will not be disheartened with the local Byzantine church and the Seljuk Turkish hunting lodge in Kemer, and a little further afield the ancient cities of Phaselis and Olympos.

Kemer Property

With its popularity with Northern European tourists and a certain heavy percentage of European investment, Kemer’s property market values are not the lowest on the south-western Turkish coast. Nonetheless, a three-bedroom house with a garden is currently on the market for a hundred thousand pounds. In Western Kemer, two bedroom apartments can be purchased for around seventy-five thousand euro, which is fifty thousand pounds. In Southern Kemer, it’s possible to purchase a two bedroom apartment, with a beautiful, spacious shared swimming pool, fitted kitchens and garden for around a hundred and twenty thousand euro, which is around eighty thousand pounds. Clearly, the different areas of Kemer have sliding scales on property market values. For those interested in the luxury villa end of the market, Southern Kemer property has some brand new, modern style, four bedroom villas with a private pool on offer within the region of two hundred and seventy five thousand euro, which is a hundred and eighty-five thousand pounds. For those with slightly less to spend, who still demand a touch of class, a two-bedroom country house, with a private swimming pool is available in South Western Kemer for fifty-five thousand pounds.
