New marinas in Turkey

27 August 2009
D-Marin Didim Marina officially opened yesterday creating jobs for locals and giving the area a new tourist attraction. Dogus Group, the constructors of the marina will now continue with a $100-million marina project in Dalaman that will cater to 1,300 yachts. A new marina in Cesme near Izmir is also under construction with the completion date given for May 2010. Cesme marina will have the capacity to serve 500 yachts. The Ministry of Transport aims to increase the yacht capacity of marinas in Turkey to 50,000 by the year 2023.

Property prices rise in Turkey

- According the the recently compiled index of Turkish real estate prices, some areas have seen prices rise on both property and rental rates this July with another rise expected this month which is attributed to the falling Turkish interest rates. Turkey's Mortgage applications still rising

- This year has seen a 65% rise in mortgage applications according to mortgage expert Michael Axelrod, the main reason being that Turkey is not in the eurozone and therefore remains cheaper for UK buyers. It was also stated that the country is tipped to see tourist numbers reach 30 million this year, which is good news for investors with holiday rental properties as demand for these continues to outstrip supply.
