Why Buyers are choosing Turkey over Spain

SPAIN v TURKEY - Why Choose Turkey ?

Whilst the bubble has burst on the Spanish property market with people unable to sell due to the sheer volume of properties on the market, inflated prices, low quality builds and tougher requirements to obtain a mortgage, the Turkish market is currently buoyant, offering quality properties at a third of the price.

Turkey is an emerging market with a high level of demand and a thriving tourist destination which will prove rewarding for investors in both the long and short term.

Turkey's potential for growth has no limit and with the government making economical, political and social improvements ready for its proposed entry into the European Union.  Foreign investment in Turkey topped the $11.8 billion mark this year and is increasing as plans to improve infrastructure, and the construction of golf courses, 5* hotels, new marinas and shopping centres come to fruition.

20,000 Brits now own property here and that number is growing as more people fall in love with its fabulous natural resources, historical wonders and beautiful beaches.

Top Holiday Destination

With the unfavourable current conversion rates between Euro and Sterling, many holidaymakers this year avoided European destinations and Turkey experienced a massive increase in the number of tourists.  Figures show that Dalaman was the top holiday destination this year, followed by Majorca, Crete and Bodrum in fourth place.  My former home, the Costa Blanca in Spain, only managed to reach 8th on the list.

Plans to increase the number of flights from many European destinations by next year will only serve to increase the number of tourists flying to Turkey.   Bodrum is already on established flight routes from many airlines as well as Dalaman, Izmir and Antalya, and with really cheap internal flights from Istanbul for those who can't currently fly direct, Turkey really is becoming a year round destination – perfect for those property owners who are looking for a rental income.

The Bodrum Peninsular

No area has more to offer than the Bodrum Peninsular where I can GUARANTEE that every visitor will find some little corner that they will fall in love with.   The town is renowned for its restaurants, yacht marina, shopping, party atmosphere and bohemian lifestyle but around the peninsular the various towns and villages such as Tuzla, Gumusluk, Gundogan, and Yalikavak, have something different to offer.  Secluded bays, golf, wildlife, stunning views, nature reserves, historical sites, diving, yachting, horse riding, and fertile valleys can be found.   Bodrum, known as the 'St Tropez' of Turkey, is located near 3 of Turkey's major airports - Izmir, Dalaman and Bodrum, and offers excellent investment opportunities due to the fact that it is one of the most popular and easily accessible tourist destinations.
